Is this safe for anxious or reactive pets?

Yes — it's the reason PawCalm exists. There's no pinch, no sudden snap and no sharp blade near the paw: the grinder files the nail down gradually, so a startled pet can pull away mid-session without getting hurt. Start with it switched off in the room for a few days, then on for a few seconds while they eat something nice. Most owners tell us the first proper trim happens in week two, one or two nails at a time. If your pet is genuinely reactive to handling, work alongside your vet or a fear-free trainer — a tool can lower the stress, but it can't replace their guidance.

My pet is scared of tools in general, not just grooming. Will this help?

Often, yes, because there's nothing to brace against. You can let them sniff it, hold it near a paw without switching it on, and stop at any moment without a half-cut nail to deal with. Go at their pace: session one might just be the sound in the background, and that still counts as progress.

How loud is it?

It's a low hum rather than a high-pitched buzz — closer to an electric toothbrush a room away than to clippers. We chased quiet harder than power, because the sound is what most pets react to, not the sensation. You can comfortably talk to your pet over it, which matters more than any decibel number.

How long does the battery last?

Around 90 minutes of grinding per full charge. Since a typical trim takes five to ten minutes, that's usually a couple of months of sessions for one pet. It charges over USB-C in about two hours, and the LED ring shows you where the charge is sitting. It's cordless in use, so nothing to tangle around paws.

Does it work on all breeds and coat types?

The grinder handles nails from small cats and toy breeds through to large dogs — you just pick the port opening that matches the nail size and take a little longer on thick nails. For coats, the kit's steam brush, deshedding glove and wipes cover short, double and long coats; heavily matted or corded coats are the one exception, and those are better untangled by a groomer before any at-home routine. Very dark nails are also worth going slowly on: use the LED to spot where the vein starts and stop well before it.

How often should I be doing this?

Every three to four weeks suits most dogs and cats, and less for pavement walkers who wear their nails down naturally. If you can hear clicking on hard floors, it's time.

How fast is shipping?

Orders placed before 2pm on a weekday are dispatched the same day, otherwise the next working day. Main-centre deliveries typically arrive in 2–3 working days and outlying areas in 3–5. You'll get a tracking link by email as soon as the parcel leaves us, and shipping costs are calculated at checkout.

What's your return policy?

You have 60 days to change your mind. If it isn't right for you and your pet, email hello@pawcalm.com and we'll arrange a collection and refund you in full — used is fine, since you can't know if it suits your pet without trying it. Faulty items are covered by a 12-month warranty on top of that.
